Biography:

MINIMALISTS, UNITE! The Minimals are a four piece ‘Ska Wave’ band founded in 2019 near the estuary of the Yarra River and Port Philip Bay, Kulin Nation. The band line-up consists of, Sad Face on guitar, kazoo and vocals, Angry Face on bass, Cool Face on the saxophone and Happy Face on drums. The Minimals are proud advocates for mental health well-being and Autism awareness. They have assigned faces that are influenced by the autism learning tools, are to demonstrate struggles experienced in being defined by one’s condition and as a form of rebellion against the stigma often attached. How does the band get this across in their songs? By relating their experiences with mental illness in their lyrics: “This EP is a manifesto of thoughts from the perspectives of people who experience life in an alternative way. This is not just about me, it’s about the band and all like us. We are neuro-diverse and we want to make you boogie. We make music for those who long for a fairer society with and a more even distribution of wealth by pushing for multi-national corporations that have a negative impact on the planet to pay” We are The Minimals.
