Mike Ryon
Jazz Music Composer
Virginia, USA
Biography:
Started piano lessons with various instructors at age 6 through high school. Self taught myself to play guitar and sing using the Folksingers Song Book Vol 1 at age 12. Continued to play guitar, sing and play piano through my young adult years. Started composing songs on the guitar in the mid 1980's. In the mid 1990's became frustrated with the lack of variety in music store books for piano players. Began composing piano instrumental compositions and going to summer music composition workshops. Obtained copyrights for my first 2 piano instrumental compositions in 2000. I have recently submitted 5 completed other original song compositions (piano pieces) for copyrighting. Another 6 songs are currently under compositional development. I am also a ballroom dance instructor at a local community college; a USPTA tennis instructor, high school tennis team coach and player; as well as retired after 30 years of Federal Service from the Pentagon in 2012. My last position there was Architect Project Manager who steered the site development, technical engineering and construction development of the Air Force Memorial. The COVID put my tennis life into an unpredicted hiatus but has adrenalized my time and devotion to music.
