Biography:

Julia is an established live performer, song writer and recording artist, who enjoys singing material from an eclectic range of genres. However, jazz and blues are her first loves and her sound and style are heavily influenced by timeless artists like Eva Cassidy, Natalie Cole, Nina Simone and Norah Jones. Julia has performed at virtually every live music venue in the Gauteng area, made various appearances on television and radio and had the pleasure of being featured in the 2007 Joy of Jazz Festival, alongside jazz super stars such as Miriam Makeba, George Duke and Stanley Clarke. Some of her previous corporate clients include: Eskom, Sasol, Microsoft, Coca-Cola International, Massmart Holdings, Porsche South Africa and Nedbank. In 2010, Julia co-wrote and produced her debut solo album, executive produced by acclaimed South African singer, songwriter and producer, Dennis East. Many of South Africa’s most respected musicians, such as Denny &Veronique Lalouette, Marcus Wyatt, Melody Bracey, Liesl Penniken, Bruce Wallace, Wessel van Rensburg, Danny Antil, Raymond Green and Rob Watson were featured on the album. Tracks from this debut have had airtime on the top ten charts of Swiss Radio, South Africa’s Classic FM, Radio 702 and Radio Today. Julia also went on to promote the album and meet with record labels from across the globe at the 2010 MIDEM Festival, held in Cannes, France. Julia currently enjoys performing with her jazz band, the Julia Lamberti Jazz Quartet, at top venues and corporate event throughout South Africa. Founded in 2010, this multi-cultural four- piece outfit performs a soulful blend of jazz standards, funk, Afro-jazz, R&B and blues and features the talented Anthony Koopman on double bass, Phol Finck on keys and Esra Isaacs on drums and percussion. The quartet was recently honoured to be invited to write and perform a song on an historic Oliver Tambo tribute album entitled: Voices of OR: A Musical Tribute to Oliver Tambo. The album features high-profile musicians from South Africa and the United States, poets, authors, politicians and intellectuals, with the project made possible by funding from the National Lotteries Commission and the South African Department of Arts & Culture. South African jazz superstar, Gloria Bosman, provided musical direction and backing vocals on the track, entitled “Your Voice” with award-winning local saxophonist, McCoy Mrubata, performing part of the song’s horn section and acting as producer on the project. All lyrics and lead vocals on the track were provided by Julia. In addition to enjoying regular live performances with her band and collaborating with other musicians, Julia is currently focused on writing and producing fresh material, which reflects her unique sound, style and growth as a songwriter and vocalist.
