Biography:

Dr. Sharon M. Jones is a Contemporary Christian recording artist, author, counselor, and visionary whose music is a vessel for healing and restoration. Born in Jamaica, West Indies, and raised across England, the United States, and Africa, Sharon’s multicultural upbringing and deep spiritual roots infuse her music with global resonance and divine purpose.

A third-generation musician and singer, Sharon began her solo music journey with the release of I Won’t Complain, followed by her acclaimed album Miracles in 2008. Her songs—like “Emanuel,” “Eagles Wing,” and “The Anointing Makes the Difference”—blend Jamaican-American gospel, classical piano, and soul-stirring lyrics that minister to wounded hearts.

Her style has been described as “Jamerican”—a fresh, cutting-edge fusion of Caribbean warmth and American gospel depth. She’s often compared to gospel legends like CeCe Winans and Helen Baylor, yet her voice carries a distinct therapeutic and prophetic quality, shaped by her work as a trauma-informed counselor and life coach.

Sharon’s music ministry spans churches, conferences, and digital platforms, reaching audiences from the United States to the West Indies and Europe. Her songs are featured on AirPlay Direct A, OurStage B, and TuneIn—where listeners can also hear her audiobook She Found It In The Clouds.

With a heart for adoption healing, marriage restoration, and identity empowerment, Sharon’s music is more than melody—it’s ministry. Her voice is that of a messenger, and her songs are tools for transformation.

My music journey began in the church at just three years old, standing on a pew and singing with all the passion my little lungs could carry. By age 12, I had written my first song—a tender reflection of the melodies and messages already stirring in my spirit. I sang solos throughout elementary school, at church conventions, and anywhere I was invited to lift my voice.

From ages 6 to 10, I studied classical piano in London, England under the watchful eye of Mrs. Hopkins, a gifted and patient teacher who believed in my potential—even when I absolutely hated practicing. Though I was formally trained, I’ve always had a natural gift of hearing and perfect pitch, and I play effortlessly by ear, even though I was taught to read and play music. Music has always been more than notes and rhythm; it’s been a language of healing, joy, and sometimes laughter. I especially love creating funny improv songs—a playful side of me that keeps the spirit light and the creativity flowing.

During my teen years, music became a ministry on the move. I sang with a gospel group and performed on the radio, and every weekend we traveled across the tri-state area—New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut—ministering in churches, concerts, and community events. It was a season of stretching, learning, and pouring out, and it helped shape my voice not just musically, but spiritually.

I also joined the Rutgers University choral ensemble, where I received professional voice training and deepened my musical foundation. Rutgers gave me the tools to refine the gift God had already placed in me and connected me with mentors who nurtured both my technique and my calling.

At just 16 years old, I was appointed Minister of Music at Faith Gospel Tabernacle, and later served at Greater Bethesda COGIC Church. These roles taught me that worship is more than performance—it’s leadership, healing, and surrender. Music became a bridge between heaven and hurting hearts.

Today, I continue to write, sing, and produce music that speaks to identity, healing, and restoration. My albums I Won’t Complain and Miracles reflect that journey, and my sound—what I call “Jamerican”—blends gospel, classical, and Caribbean soul with prophetic storytelling.

Whether I’m ministering through song, writing devotionals, or leading workshops, I sing to restore what’s been lost, to heal what’s been wounded, and to remind every listener that their story still matters.
