Biography:
Dan and the Dynamite is a Swiss nu jazz band (currently on the Swiss Radio Couleur 3 and La Première). The band was selected by the Montreux Jazz Festival for its residency in October 2024, where it gave its first concert. They are currently finishing their 1st EP (Explosive Music Therapy), due for release in September 2025.
The band’s core members are the 2 composers Jérôme Spichiger (bassist) and Yaniv Benhamou (saxophonist). The 2 musicians began playing together in 2010 and have performed on various Swiss and international stages (Montreux Jazz, Paléo, Caribana, Gample, Trans Musicales de Rennes, Flèche d'Or), before founding Dan and the Dynamite to create their own sound.
Their music is acoustic, improvised and organic, with atmospheric fender rhodes, jazz drums and hypnotic tenor sax. But at the center of the band is Dan, a musical superhero who unites, heals and comforts, with a contemporary pop sensibility and jazz improvisations.
