Biography:
Nola Muu, born and raised in Dagenham, London, is a Afro Swing/AfroRnB artist who’s proving that he can leave a mark on every stage he touches. His free and playful personality is reflected in his warm and versatile melodies and choruses.
Nola began making music back in 2005 at the age of 9 with a group of friends called ‘Primal Instincts’. It is here that Nola discovered his passion for music, rapping and singing his way into being one of the standouts of the group.
Since then Nola Muu has blossomed into an artist in his own right garnering several notable achievements along the way. To begin, his 2020 single ‘That’s My Vibe’ featured in the independent movie ‘A Fatherless Tale’ which was showed at the 2021 British Film Awards in November of the same year. Following this, his 2021 single, ‘Til We’re One’ earned him a placement in the BBC Introducing rotation for January 2022. This was progressed by his follow up single, Koko Body, that earned him a live on-air BBC Radio 1Xtra interview on June 8th 2022.
Following the release of Koko Body, Nola was scouted by ITV's Starstruck TV singing competition to feature in their second season as a contestant, airing February 2023. Here, he was a standout participant, being told “I’m surprised you’re not singing somewhere every night”.
Nola Muu has also built a small but loyal following on social media and music streaming platforms. In 2022, Nola had 14.5k streams across streaming platforms and hit a high of 5,000 listeners in July 2022. This growth and attention is reflected in the amount of live concerts Nola has had the pleasure of showcasing his talent in or headlining. Since 2021 Nola has performed in London, Birmingham and Dudley multiple times in various venues, as well as Manchester and Nottingham.
However Nola is far from an artist that simply releases singles. In 2019 Nola Muu released his first EP, ‘MAN’, comprising five tracks. He followed this with his 2020 Soundcloud EP, ‘We Were Forged In Pain’. Though produced in his bedroom, the 15 track EP is considered a turning point in Nola’s music journey as he was left alone to explore his craft and identity in the throes of lockdown.
Nola recently completed a West Midlands tour with 2Funky Arts in celebration of Black History Month. He was noted as standout performer amongst the collective.
