Biography:

Catherine Goldwyn, piano. Catherine started her musical career composing songs for Chappell Music. After attending Berklee College of Music and Harvard, she played small combo jazz in and around Boston, and relocated to Los Angeles in 2000. Once on the West Coast she went to work as a composer, arranger, and keyboardist for producer Peter Barker at his Threshold Studio in Santa Monica, helping craft recordings in styles ranging from hip hop to jazz. Ms. Goldwyn is also the founder of the nonprofit organization, In The Band, which for more than 18 years has been bringing music education to underserved, inner city kids in the LA area.
Phil Lewis, guitar. Guitarist, composer, and producer Phil Lewis has played and recorded a wide variety of musical styles, having performed and/or recorded with artists as diverse as funk drummer Gerry Brown, Latin jazz trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez, arranger Lalo Schifrin, and Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier. For most of the last 15 years he has been focused on producing what has been referred to by some as "melodic jazz" -– a style that emphasizes melody and emotion over musical pyrotechnics. An example of this is the Phil Lewis Quartet, the jazz combo he leads and whose debut CD, The Bitter Suite, was released in 2011. Goldwyn and Lewis have created two albums, Shadow and Light and Sacred Science to feature their long standing love of jazz improvisation. Using melodic and harmonic magic they weave stories into their songs that are meaningful and accessible. Enjoy! And, Phil and Catherine met in 2002 at a jam session in LA and married in 2013. The third album, Meltdown, is getting its finishing touches! CGPL Catherine Goldwyn and Phil Lewis

Career Goals | Objectives:

Our main goal is to create excellent music that people like to listen to. We want our listeners to take a journey with us. On our recordings we play with first class instrumentalists and we write most of the material. We've done a few covers such as, "Stairway to Heaven" (you know who wrote that one, right?) and "It's Our Love" by Iggy Pop. We want to be heard as much as possible.
