Biography:

"Inspired by tunes he heard playing on the kitchen radio as a child, Christian Antonius Mueller began his piano-playing explorations by the age of four and wrote his first compositions as an eight-year-old. He started to play the piano by listening to the radio. Fascinated by the melodies played by the radio, he performed them on the piano and improvised on the melodies and chords. As a seven-years-old, he started to take piano lessons and two years later he wrote his first composition for piano. He kept busy from then on improvising and composing on the piano. Later, at high school, he was given the job as musical director for several plays at the school theatre. He could now gain abilities in arranging and orchestrating. As well he was working as a live-improviser for theatre and pantomime plays. In choirs at high school and at the conservatory, he gained singing skills and for himself he wrote the first pop songs, including English lyrics. Besides that, he learnt to play the trumpet and joined several brass bands in the area he lived.

The main impulses to develop musicality and technical skills he got from Christian Zaugg with whom he studied professional classical piano performance and teaching at the conservatory in Bern and Zurich. Zaugg taught him the Feuchtwanger-Technique, which bases on a natural body posture and uses a minimum of muscle strength.

To Antonius, this technique was ground – breaking, because it allowed him to realize his musical ideas as far as he ever could imagine. With this technique, he gained sovereignty and control of the keys and tones and every kind of nervousness was washed away before it even had started to grow. With the interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bachs Fugue and Prelude in F sharp (2nd Collection of the Well-Tempered Piano) he received the best mark. During his conservatory-time, he wrote several pieces of instrumental music for different instruments with piano and a piece for romantic orchestra. As well, he was composing songs and back – ground music and acting for the cabaret theater trio Tacheles, that toured through Switzerland. Besides the classical piano studies he attended courses in Jazz-Improvisation at the Jazz-Academy in Basel.

After his diploma concert and several years of working as a piano teacher, Antonius traveled through Canada and lived in Toronto for a couple months. He started to write progressive rock songs, based on the instrumental music he has written and improvised. He returned to Switzerland and worked as piano player in several bars based in Zurich. He built up a repertoire of approximately 600 Songs in a big variety of musical styles. Meanwhile – after he had attended an English school in Vancouver, Canada – he studied Alexander Technique for six years (2003-2009) and gained skills in sequencing and computer-based recording which brought him back to his strong passion: Composing and performing for a listening audience. Since Antonius was asked frequently about a CD, he decided to record his first album (The Man In Black, piano solo) in 2005. The following year he recorded a piano solo concert in Zurich. Antonius released his first singer-songwriter album TIKKUN in the early 2009 and performed all songs at the release party July 4th 2009 at the Bazillus Club in Zurich.

In 2012 and 2013, he recorded two progressive rock albums: “Daily Cycle Of The Sun” and “Back To Helipolis”. In the meantime, he composed theatre music and a musical, as well a number of film scores.

In 2017-18:

The new chamber musical progressive/classic rock album”Welcome to the daily cycle of the sun” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Soundville studios in Lucerne, Switzerland. The album is available on CD Baby.
